Video showing photos of our visit to an abandoned railway in Dudley

The BirminghamIU members visited an abandoned railway and tunnel in Dudley as some locals reported that they thought it was haunted.

Please note that only founder members would ever be asked to attend high risk locations such as this and we choose to do so entirely at our own risk. The abandoned railway runs through a tunnel underneath Dudley and goes from Walsall via Dudley to Stourbridge Junction. There is amazingly around 9 miles of forgotten track. The tunnel was open and a path runs down to the old line without any signs or gates warning about trespassing.

We “asked out” at the location, videoed (coming soon) and took photographs. Due to the high risk of potentially running in homeless people, danger of bricks falling inside the tunnel and because we was hidden away from civilisation if we got into difficulties, we couldn’t stay long enough to perform a full investigation, but we left quite sceptical about the reports of paranormal activity in the old tunnel that we heard from locals in the area. I personally didn’t see why anyone would haunt an old railway tunnel unless perhaps people lost their lives there during building or perhaps on the railway track or even after it became abandoned. We experienced no paranormal activity on this occasion, except for capturing various ‘orbs’ on our photos, the location was very dusty however so this evidence is quite poor. This doesn’t mean the location isn’t haunted, but to find out for sure it takes a lot more investigating.

NOTE: Visiting this location is not recommended, but if you choose to visit, do so at your own risk.
