As far as we know Birmingham Investigators of the Unknown was the first group to investigate Key Hill Cemetery in Birmingham, UK. At the time of initially writing, we couldn’t find anything linking this location to ghosts or hauntings, yet we found the location extremely active. We first arrived before dusk for a tour around the location and Peter, our psychic immediately picked up on numerous spirits and we all felt a very heavy feeling throughout most of the investigation. Our suspicions were confirmed when we caught numerous ‘orbs’ and some white mist on camera throughout the investigation. On close examination of the photos, most cannot be explained by normal science as they don’t appear to be dust particles or reflections.

We have since revisited this amazing cemetery and had an eventful night, here’s some brief highlights. Paul suddenly felt immense pressure on his head like he was being taken by a spirit, at this time a photograph was taken and he appeared to have a different face to Paul’s. Peter saw a moving flash of energy move across the floor when there was no obvious source and picked up on lots of activity. We caught even more incredible photographs throughout the night.

After all this amazing activity we couldn’t resist returning for a 3rd investigation. This time we arrived well before dusk and took an initial tour. We all felt extremely heavy in numerous places throughout the graveyard. Peter later picked up on 3 spirits who didn’t want us there, they were apparently happy and didn’t like people like us interfering with their affairs. Peter was also warned by his guide that it wasn’t safe tonight because of other people with us so we were on our guard. When it got dark we started doing a vigil, but the heavy sensations seemed to disperse. Later we suddenly heard a dog growling right by us. On investigation we found strong evidence that we weren’t alone (not in the paranormal sense) and left for our own safety. We hope to return with more members and other extra security.

WARNING - Update May 2009!

One of the founder members recently returned to Key Hill Cemetery during the day and was saddened to find various graves toppled over like they have been vandalised and the area appears to have been taken over by homeless people with serious drug misuse problems judging by the amount of recently used paraphernalia discarded in particular places. We have spoken to Friends of Key Hill Cemetery and informed them of this extensive damage. This location is now NOT recommended at all as it’s too dangerous, especially after dark. If you choose to go against our advice, it’s entirely at your own risk. The location will soon be only open during the day with new gates to protect the premises.
