Galleries Of Justice
2 Founder members of BirminghamIU joined another paranormal group named CEPI on an overnight investigation at the famous and reputedly haunted Galleries of Justice in Nottingham.
Unfortunately because the event was open to so many paying members of the public and also because there was only space on the investigation for 2 of our members to attend at the time, it was impossible for BirminghamIU to perform any kind of serious investigation ourselves. Peter however did feel very heavy in various parts of the location and felt that he could have been taken by a spirit (trance mediumship), but unfortunately this wasn’t allowed due to the risk involved. We never-the-less witnessed what was alleged to be trance mediumship from the same member of the CEPI team on various occasions, but BirminghamIU remained sceptical.
Our team members both heard various sounds that could have been paranormal, but it was difficult to eliminate sounds made by the people attending the event, so remained unproven.
We did however have a limited time to take photographs around the large location, mainly during an initial tour, see photos below.
The Galleries of Justice is an amazing location. It has been used as a court and prison since the 1780s right through until the 1980s, although a court has existed on the site since the late 14th century and a prison since 1449. People used to be tried, imprisoned and executed all on the same site. There is a vast underground maze of caves where unfortunate prisoners would have been kept locked away. The state of the cells are more remnant of dark dungeons and many of the jailers enjoyed inflicting terrible torture, pain and misery. The conditions prisoners had to endure would have been utterly intolerable, foul overcrowded cells where disease and illness would have been prominent. The unspeakable never ending torture and suffering leaves an unpleasant and eerie atmosphere with allegedly both residual and spiritual energies throughout. BirminghamIU would love to attend the Galleries of Justice again and be able to perform a serious investigation ourselves. Unfortunately the cost of hiring this location alone runs into a few thousand pounds at the time of writing.
