Main Website Speed Improvements - NOW FIXED!

I have noticed that our main website http://www.birminghamiu.com has been running a bit slow of late, especially when clicking on "Investigation Videos" or "Investigation Photos", I apologise for any inconvenience. It's nothing to do with our paid hosting provider Hosting24 as I have another very similar site that runs lightening fast on the same server. It's not loading too slow as yet, but it's prudent to address the problem before it becomes more serious in the future.

I am currently investigating and have installed a cache system as a temporary solution until I find out the real cause of the slowdown. The cache system will help for most page loads, but it isn't a final solution.

I will advise when a final solution is in place.

NOW FIXED!!

I manually looked through the main database, optimising and clearing out tables that weren't required. I also turned off a few features that clogged up the database even more, but weren't in use. After a lot of work, I then finally found the main cause of the slow speeds. It was caused by a corrupt field in one of the tables that filled up the database with "\\\\\", thousands of them.

Now I've corrected and repaired the database. Our main website now as fast as the day it went live, if not even faster with the additional optimisations. I have now removed the temporary solution which was caching system is it's no longer required and could cause complications in the future. Sorry for any inconvenience caused before the problem was resolved. If you have any problems or queries, please don't hesitate to contact us.
